Freetown, 15 June 2026 – The National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) today commenced a four-day training programme on the Procurement Requisition Module of the Salone Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System at the e-GP Training Room, Lotto Building, Freetown.
The training has brought together participants from fifteen (15) pilot Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), including Vote Controllers, Heads of Procurement Units, Heads of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Heads of Finance. The programme is part of NPPA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public procurement processes through the digital transformation of procurement operations across Government.
To ensure effective participation and hands-on learning, the training has been divided into two groups. Group One is undergoing training from 15th to 16th June 2026, while Group Two will participate from 17th to 18th June 2026.
Officially opening the first session, the Director of ICT/e-GP at NPPA, Dr. Mohamed Baba Turay, welcomed participants and underscored the importance of the training in advancing the implementation of the Salone e-GP System.
Dr. Turay called on participants to pay keen attention to the training and actively engage in the practical exercises in order to gain hands-on experience in interacting with the e-GP platform. He emphasized that the successful implementation of the system depends largely on the readiness and capacity of users to effectively utilize the various modules being rolled out.
He further assured participants that the Procurement Requisition training forms part of a broader capacity-building programme being undertaken by NPPA to equip procurement practitioners and other key stakeholders with the knowledge and skills required to effectively operate the platform.
“This training is designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and skills in using the Procurement Requisition Module. We expect participants to take full advantage of the opportunity and become champions of the system within their respective institutions. More training programmes will follow as we continue the phased rollout of the Salone e-GP System,” Dr. Turay stated.
The Procurement Requisition Module enables authorized users to create, manage and submit procurement requests electronically, thereby improving efficiency, transparency, accountability and compliance in public procurement processes. Participants are being taken through practical demonstrations and guided exercises covering requisition creation, submission, approval workflows, budget integration, document management, technical team assignments and procurement planning alignment.
The training marks another significant milestone in the implementation of the Salone e-GP System, which seeks to modernize public procurement in Sierra Leone through the adoption of digital technology and international best practices.
Upon completion of the four-day training programme on 18th June 2026, NPPA will host a nationwide webinar on 19th June 2026. The webinar will bring together all MDAs, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), suppliers, contractors, development partners and other stakeholders involved in public procurement across Sierra Leone. The session will provide a broader platform for stakeholders to gain insights into the Procurement Requisition Module and the wider benefits of the Salone e-GP System.
NPPA remains committed to consolidating public procurement reforms and leveraging technology to promote effective, efficient, transparent and accountable public service delivery throughout Sierra Leone.
